PORT TOWNSEND — City Council member Freida Fenn wants the city to enact a resolution supporting a nuclear weapons ban in advance of a trip she will make to Hiroshima, Japan, later this month.
Fenn presented the resolution to the council on Monday and called for council members to support a document that she will be able to present in Japan during World Disarmament Week this month.
The document drew both praise and criticism from citizens and some council members during Monday night’s meeting.
It appears to be the latest chapter of a series of attempts by some council members to address issues of “global significance.”
