PORT TOWNSEND — Construction on a proposed three-story, $2.5 million City Hall annex could begin next spring.
But the decision will first weigh in on a citizen advisory task force that could start reviewing the project as early as July.
The City Council heard from bond underwriters, architects and City Manager David Timmons on Wednesday night on a plan to build an annex in the parking lot behind City Hall at 540 Water St. that would house the city’s administrative offices.
Architect Robert Lee of ARC Architects of Seattle showed several building designs to the council.
According to his plans, the building would front on Washington and Madison Streets.
The three-story structure would have a central lobby, with the Finance Department housed on the first floor; the city manager’s and city attorney’s offices and conference rooms on the second floor, and the departments of Building and Community Development, Engineering and Public Works on the third floor.
