PORT TOWNSEND — Could a carousel, a casino and artist studios fly at Point Hudson?
Those ideas were among many presented by about 75 people attending a meeting Wednesday night to voice their ideas of activities in the future of a prime piece of Port Townsend’s waterfront.
The group often had differing views on what the Port of Port Townsend-owned property should offer and what to do with its buildings, some of which are nearly 80 years old.
One resident said he wouldn’t mind seeing the buildings gone, but more people pushed for keeping them.
Resident Ande Grahn said she believed in “benign neglect” — keeping minor flaws in the old timber buildings that add character.
But another person piped up that he had to work in the buildings and worried about his safety.
Creosote, asbestos and electrical problems have been cited by Port officials as some of the buildings’ worst problems.
