Port Townsend has until December 2003 to fix low water pressure problems under an agreement with the state Department of Health.
The City Council authorized City Manager David Timmons to sign the accord Monday.
“We’ve agreed that these are legitimate issues that need to be addressed, and we’ve found an appropriate way to do that” with the agreement, Timmons said.
State health officials could fine the city $5,000 per day without the agreement.
Three portions of city-owned water systems — two in Port Townsend and one in Port Hadlock — experience water pressure lower than state health standards require.
Houses on Morgan Hill, Lands End Lane and Jacob Miller Road in southwest Port Townsend and on Engle Road in the Tri-Area have low water pressure.
