PORT TOWNSEND — The City Council on Monday night voted to go forward with a landmark $4.75 million City Hall restoration and annex building.
With the hour pushing 10 p.m., the hotly debated issue was approved 6-1. Councilman Al Youse quietly cast the dissenting vote, declining to say why.
But even among the six council members who approved the measure, there was some dissatisfaction with the plan expressed during two hours of discussion.
Councilman Geoff Masci apologized to citizens who have expressed opposition to the proposal.
The issue keeps getting more confusing and more expensive, he said, noting that he doesn’t care much for the annex building proposed next to the City Hall.
