PORT HADLOCK — A veteran law-enforcer with practical as well as academic experience has been named Jefferson County undersheriff, Sheriff Mike Brasfield said.
Timothy A. Perry, 65, of Port Ludlow, an ex-college professor who is also former police chief of Clyde Hill in eastern King County, will replace Undersheriff Ken Sukert, who is retiring next month after 26 years of service.
Perry’s appointment formally begins March 31.
Until then he will be shadowing Sukert to get better acquainted with the task, Brasfield said.
Sukert has been undersheriff for the past 12 years.
Perry has 35 years of law enforcement experience.
“He has a combination of skill sets that I think are very important for this agency,” Brasfield said.
“He has a strong background in drug enforcement, and I think with the widespread meth problem in Jefferson County he will be a helpful asset.”
The sheriff also accented Perry’s strong background in patrol and patrol investigation, expert-witness experience, and a good role model for deputies.
“He is very people-oriented,” Brasfield said.
“You would find him gregarious, very easy to talk to, very down to earth.”
