When attorney George Dyer retired to Port Ludlow in 1987, he decided to devote his life to poetry.
After decades of drafting consumer credit forms for financial institutions as an attorney, Dyer wanted to do something more expressive.
He also wanted to be closer to his grandson Terrance in Gig Harbor.
The result: “40 Poems for T: The Fun of Writing Poetry” — published in March by Prestige Books.
The book is a collection of children’s poems written back and forth between grandfather and grandson, in which the grandfather also weighs in with advice on how to write poems.
Dyer, 69, who has dabbled in poetry since his college years, said the idea for the book came about when he was devising ways to build a friendship with his 11-year-old step-grandson Terrance, or “T.”
