PORT HADLOCK — A 32-year-old man was arrested early Saturday for investigation of allegedly firing a handgun in the air after pointing it at two people after he was escorted out of a bar.
Dana Flogstad of Port Hadlock was booked into Jefferson County jail for investigation of two counts of first-degree assault and one count each of making threats to kill, reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a firearm.
He remained in jail late Saturday, with no bail set.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said Flogstad fired a shot in the air outside his apartment at about 1:40 a.m. after pointing it at two bar employees who had escorted him home.
The bar, the Hadlock House, is located across the street.
Capt. Ben Stamper said that as the employees were walking back to the bar, Flogstad came out of his apartment with a handgun, verbally threatened them and pointed the gun “directly at the chests of both . . . from a close distance.”
Stamper said Flogstad was about arms-length distance from the two men.
“He turned and shot in the air,” he said, after loading one round into the chamber of the .25-caliber pistol.
The two bar employees, who were not identified, told deputies they had walked Flogstad home because he been confrontational with other patrons.
Stamper said Flogstad, a recent transplant from California, told deputies he got into a verbal dispute at the bar after talking to another man’s girlfriend.
