A woman was trapped for 10 hours in an elevator at the Port of Port Angeles administrative building before firefighters rescued her early Thursday morning.
The woman, who works as a janitor in the building, was discovered at about 4:30 a.m. by security personnel as they made their normal sweeps of the building at 338 W. Front St., Port Angeles Fire Capt. Jamie Mason said.
A cord, possibly from a vacuum cleaner, became stuck in the elevator door, seemingly preventing the door from working properly, Mason said.
“For some reason, the elevator just wasn’t functioning,” he said.
Firefighters were contacted and rescued the woman from the elevator. She was not injured, Mason said.
