Port Angeles woman jailed in connection with two attempted robberies

PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles woman is being held for investigation of two attempted armed robberies downtown, Port Angeles police said Monday.

Robin Dawn Sather, 31, of Port Angeles remained in the Clallam County jail Monday afternoon for investigation of two counts of second degree robbery, said Brian Smith, deputy police chief.

Sather also had two felony bench warrants, the most recent issued March 4, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office jail log.

Police officers responded to a report of a robbery in progress at 6:50 p.m. Sunday at a business in the 600 block of East First Street.

A woman reportedly had entered the business, told the clerk she had a gun in her pocket, attempted to rob the store and fled, Smith said.

Officer Sky Sexton reported that he spotted Sather, who matched the clerk’s description of the woman, in an alley several blocks away and detained her for questioning.

Sather further was identified after officers reviewed the store’s video surveillance cameras.

No firearm was found, Smith said.

While officers were investigating the attempted armed robbery, a second person contacted police also to report an attempted holdup, he said.

According to the police reports, the second victim told police that at about

6 p.m., she was approached by a woman on the 600 block of East Front Street who told her that she had a gun while demanding the victim’s purse.

The woman asked for the victim’s debit card, then attempted to get the victim to go with her on foot to a nearby bank to withdraw money from an ATM machine.

The investigation showed that no money was taken during either robbery attempt.
