PORT ANGELES — Police say a 58-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly holding her housekeeper at gunpoint over a theft accusation.
Sabonne Hyett was booked into the Clallam County jail Sunday afternoon for investigation of second-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment after an unidentified woman reported she was held at gunpoint in Hyett’s East Front Street home for 10 minutes earlier Sunday.
Hyett was no longer on the jail roster Monday afternoon.
The unidentified woman arrived in the Port Angeles Police Department lobby at about 3 p.m. Sunday and told police that she had been held at gunpoint, Port Angeles Police Deputy Chief Brian Smith said Monday.
A dispute between the two women was based on an alleged theft, Smith said.
The woman reportedly worked for Hyett as a housekeeper, he said.
Smith said when Hyett released the woman, she went directly to the police department to report the incident.
Police responded to Hyett’s home and persuaded her to come outside to discuss the woman’s allegations, he said.
Officers served a warrant on Hyett’s home and found a .22 caliber handgun.
Smith said use of a firearm in a threatening manner is classified as second degree assault.
