JOYCE — A Port Angeles truck driver escaped injury Tuesday afternoon when the truck he was driving rolled over on state Highway 112 west of Joyce.
Roger Hopie, 58, was driving a blue 1986 Peterbilt tractor and towing a trailer loaded with a large excavator westbound on Highway 112 at about 2:48 p.m., said Trooper Russ Winger, State Patrol spokesman.
At a curve at Milepost 38.5, the truck and trailer left the road to the right and rolled onto their sides, Winger said.
Hopie was cited for “speed too fast for conditions.”
Highway 112 was periodically closed for about six hours as crews worked to right the truck and the excavator, which remained securely attached to the trailer even after the rollover, he said.
A state Department of Transportation memo said the road was fully reopened at 9:11 p.m.
Troopers said neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the wreck and Hopie was wearing a seat belt, according to the State Patrol report.
