PRIME, the marine topside repair company, has closed its doors in Port Angeles after three years of operations, apparently because of financial problems.
But the closure of PRIME — the full name is Pacific Rim Industrial & Marine Engineering — comes as the company’s former competitor, Bellingham-based Wight Marine Services, says it will return to Port Angeles to fill the void left by PRIME’s closing.
Without any public announcement, PRIME quietly sent a letter to its vendors last week announcing its closure and the liquidation of its assets. A copy of the letter was given to the Peninsula Daily News on Wednesday.
