PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Police Department will host National Night Out from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at Civic Field, 307 S. Race St.
The night, part of a national event, will be an evening of community building and camaraderie, according to a press release.
There will be family-friendly activities, music and food vendors. There also will be a K-9 demonstration and community resources.
The night is meant as a time to get to know local police and fire personnel.
The free event will culminate with an outdoor movie at 7 p.m. featuring “A Minecraft Movie.” Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair or blanket.
National Night Out is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnership, according to a press release. Port Angeles will join 17,000 communities across the nation in the annual celebration.
Partners include the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe Police Department, National Park Service, Peninsula Communications, Port Angeles Fire Department and the Sequim Police Department.
