PORT ANGELES — The label sewn into bags made at a Port Angeles factory may take a swipe at a “president,” but not for much longer.
No more labels containing the message in French — “We are sorry that our president is an idiot. We did not vote for him” — are being sewn, Tom Bihn said Friday.
Bihn is president of Tom Bihn Inc., and he insists he was the “president” — not the White House guy — to whom the message was aimed by fun-loving employees.
The label, spurred by chatter on the Internet and picked up by national media outlets — including syndicated radio commentator Paul Harvey — has stirred patriotic emotions nationwide.
The label was sewn into 1,000 to 1,200 computer-related bags and briefcases and bike messenger bags that Tom Bihn Inc. produces in its factory on First Street in Port Angeles and sells at Bihn’s stores in Port Angeles and Seattle.
“It was intended to be a dig at me,” Bihn insisted Friday.
