Port Angeles: Teens accused of store robbery charged as adults

PORT ANGELES — Two 16-year-olds who allegedly used a toy gun to rob a small grocery near Lincoln Park last week have been charged with first-degree robbery.

Joseph J. Chartraw and Todd Martin Romero, both juniors at Port Angeles High School, were charged as adults in Clallam County Superior Court on Monday.

Chartraw is a former basketball star at Neah Bay High School. He was named the North Olympic League’s Offensive Player of the Year for the 2001-2002 boys basketball season.

He transferred to Port Angeles High School this year.

The felony robbery charge carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and/or a $50,000 fine.

A 17-year-old high school student who reportedly drove the boys to Lincoln Park Grocery is expected to face charges in juvenile court.
