The Port Angeles City Council continued Tuesday’s public hearing on a stormwater utility ordinance until their Sept. 17 meeting.
About a dozen people testified at the hearing both favoring and opposing the proposed utility.
Proponents said the city was overdue in addressing its stormwater problems and doing so would improve the city’s water quality and address chronic flooding.
Opponents said the proposed $3 fee was bound to increase and the associated requirements of the ordinance could increase development costs in the city, even for homeowners seeking to remodel.
