PORT ANGELES — A letter from the state Department of Ecology has prompted changes to the proposed Oak Street hotel and conference center — but shouldn’t significantly delay the project, according to developer Randal Jay Ehm.
He and city officials intend to respond jointly to Ecology’s concerns raised in the letter.
Ehm, owner of Ehm Architecture of Seattle and San Diego, Calif., has proposed a $16.5 million, four-story, 150-room facility, with enough conference space for up to 700 people, to be built on a downtown lot near Port Angeles Harbor.
Ecology’s letter, dated Aug. 6, raised concerns about the project’s proximity to the high water mark, parking, stormwater control and landscaping.
The letter also noted the concerns were based upon the project design submitted July 14. Ehm said Wednesday that some aspects of that plan have already been changed to meet the state’s concerns.
