SEQUIM — City Council members from Sequim and Port Angeles met Monday night in a rare joint session to trade ideas on city management and discuss issues common to both municipalities.
The meeting was suggested in January by Sequim Mayor Walt Schubert, who said he felt it was time the two cities’ governing bodies communicated about overlapping topics.
Port Angeles council members, accompanied by City Manager Mike Quinn and other city officials, traveled to Sequim’s Community Center for the meeting.
Clallam County Commissioner Steve Tharinger, D-Dungeness, and Economic Development Council Executive Director Jim Haguewood also attended.
A handful of audience members showed up to witness the two-hour brainstorming session in which issues such as growth management, solid waste disposal, health care, parking and traffic safety were hashed out.
