PORT ANGELES — U.S. senator candidate George Nethercutt wants to put more people to work in Washington and boost the state’s status on the chart of economic viability.
“I think, most fundamental, my mission will be to create jobs for people on the Peninsula, in this state, for every district, every region in the state of Washington,” Nethercutt said Saturday.
To do so, the five-term Republican Congressman from Spokane is turning from the House to the Senate and running a campaign to unseat Sen. Patty Murray, D-Shoreline, in this fall’s election.
On Saturday, after joining a crowd of thousands in the Tacoma Dome for a formal send-off to the state National Guard’s 81st Armor Brigade, Nethercutt traveled to Port Angeles to address Clallam County Republicans at the group’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner, held in the Red Lion Hotel ballroom.
While on the road, he spoke with the Peninsula Daily News about his campaign.
