Port Angeles seeks applicants for volunteer boards, committees

PORT ANGELES — The city of Port Angeles is seeking applicants to fill vacancies on several volunteer boards and commissions.

All Port Angeles advisory boards and commissions are meeting virtually at this time.

• Lodging Tax Advisory Committee: Three seats — one representative of a business required to collect lodging tax, one representative of an activity authorized to receive funds from lodging tax and one non-voting member at-large.

The committee makes recommendations to the city council on activities and facilities to be funded by lodging excise tax revenues.

Members serve for two-year terms and meet on an as-needed basis.

• Parks, Recreation and Beautification Commission: Two seats — members at-large.

The commission advises the Parks and Recreation director and assists in resolving complaints arising from departmental programs or facilities.

The commissioners serve four-year terms and meet at 6 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month.

• Planning Commission: Two seats — two members at-large.

The commission reviews and makes recommendations to the city council on amendments to the city’s comprehensive plan and land use map.

Members serve four-year terms and meet at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.

• Public Safety Advisory Board: Five seats — one representative of the Port Angeles School District, one student representative of the Port Angeles School District, one enrolled tribal member, one member who has experienced homelessness or substance abuse disorder and one member at-large.

The board makes recommendations to the city manager, chief of police and fire chief concerning the provision of public safety services within the city.

Members serve four-year terms, except for student members, who serve a one-year term, and meet at 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month.

• Utility Advisory Committee: Two seats — two members at-large.

The committee gives advisory recommendations to the city council on matters relating to the city’s utility policies and operations.

Members serve four-year terms and meet at 3 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every other month.

Applications can be picked up in person at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St., or downloaded from www.cityofpa.us.
