PORT ANGELES — Police said a Hamilton Elementary School student falsely reported that two men in a green car tried to get him into their vehicle Wednesday.
A school resource officer found out Wednesday afternoon — after the district had notified parents about the incident — that the report was false, said Sgt. Jason Viada of the Port Angeles Police Department.
District officials notified parents via email and phone of the report this morning. The student reported the men asked if he wanted a tablet and asked for him to get into a green car.
The Port Angeles Police Department responded at about 7:55 a.m. Wednesday to the report, Viada said.
Though this report is false, Viada said there isn’t reason to believe a similar report last week wasn’t true.
A student reported last week he was approached by two men in a green car while walking home from Hamilton Elementary on Seamount Drive, about two blocks from the school.
Parents were also alerted earlier this school year when a 9-year-old Roosevelt Elementary School student reported a stranger who told her to get into his truck.
