Port Angeles School District to host back to school fair

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles School district will host its Back-to-School Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Jefferson Elementary School, 218 E. 12th St., Port Angeles.

The fair will provide basic school supplies to school district families and connect families with resources such as health and wellness information and community resource booths.

“This event reflects our commitment to making sure every student starts the school year with the tools and confidence they need to succeed,” said Michelle Olsen, the district’s superintendent. “It’s also a wonderful opportunity for families to meet school staff and engage with community organizations in a welcoming, supportive environment.”

The fair is coordinated by Lutheran Community Services, the school district and United Way of Clallam County.

The Back-to-School Fair has received donations from the Port Angeles Education Foundation, Kiwanis Club of Port Angeles, Port Angeles High School Key Club, Costco Wholesale, Walmart and Lutheran Community Service Northwest.

Community members also are welcome to donate school supplies for distribution during the fair.

The most-needed supplies are two-pocket folders, No. 2 pencils, spiral-bound notebooks and teenage-sized backpacks.

Donations can be made at Buena Luz Bakery, 1105 S. Eunice St.; Port Angeles City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.; the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St.; the Port Angeles YMCA, 302 S. Francis St.; Shore Aquatic Center, 225 E. Fifth St.; and First Fed’s Port Angeles branches at 141 W. First St. and 105 W. Eighth St.
