Port Angeles School District fills two positions

PORT ANGELES — Two vacant positions at the Port Angeles School District were filled this week, and a third opened as the district prepares for the 2012-13 school year.

Jefferson Elementary School Principal Michelle Olsen will go to Roosevelt Elementary School to replace departing Principal Doug Hayman, Superintendent Jane Pryne said Wednesday.

Hayman, who has worked in the Port Angeles School District in various capacities for the past 21 years, will become principal at Tustumena Elementary School in the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District in Alaska in July.

A search for a new principal at Jefferson already has begun, Pryne said.

The district also named Kelly Pearson, a senior finance manager at Microsoft in Redmond and a 1980 graduate of Port Angeles High School, as the district’s director of finance and operations.

Pearson is expected to begin her new job May 14.

“We are very excited at the selection of Kelly Pearson,” Pryne said.

“Her many years working in a variety of financial management areas make her an excellent choice for the position,” she said.

CPA worked at Microsoft

Pearson, a certified public accountant, has served in a variety of financial roles at Microsoft since 2002.

She also was employed as controller at Applied Technical Services and Randy’s Ring & Pinion, both located in the Everett area.

Prior to Microsoft, she worked for Centrum Financial Services in Seattle, Damar Machine in Monroe, Swedish Hospital Medical Center and Kittitas Valley Community Hospital.

Pearson received a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Western Washington University in 1985 and a Bachelor of Science in accounting in 1990 from Central Washington University.
