PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles School Board voted Friday during a special meeting to narrow to five applicants a pool of potential replacements for board member Jessica Schreiber, who will be resigning effective July 17.
The School Board opted to keep Joan Sargent, Lynn Geren, Kevin Snyder, Patti Happe and Sarah Methner as potential replacements to fill Schreiber’s seat until elections are held in the fall.
District rules state that only the five best of the six applicants could advance to be interviewed at a June 20 School Board meeting. The board opted to pare one person — Richard Johnston.
Whoever is selected by the School Board will be sworn in Aug. 8 and will serve until December, when the winner of the primary election for the open School Board seat will be certified.
