PORT ANGELES — A skateboard competition and live music will highlight a fund-raiser for the proposed Port Angeles Skate Park, set for 6 p.m. Saturday at the Olympic Skate Center, 707 S. Chase St.
“We are trying to promote it as family fun. It will have a bouncing tank, video games face painting, and kids 10 and under get in for free,” said organizer Marty Martinez.
Event proceeds will help pay for building the skate park proposed for the northeast corner of Erickson Park on Race Street.
Grindline Skate Park Design of Seattle has designed a multi-use park for skateboarders, inline skaters and BMX bicycles that has an estimated construction cost of up to $200,000.
“We hope to publicize efforts towards building the skate park. The Nor’wester Rotary Club is behind it. So we will turn over the money to them,” Martinez said.
