A Hurricane Ridge snowstorm Monday morning provided unusual entertainment for sailors from the USS Chief.
Some of the approximately 80 personnel aboard the U.S. Navy minesweeper expressed their views about the visit of the Chief and its sister ship the USS Scout to Port Angeles on Monday.
The vessels are scheduled to leave for Everett at 8 a.m. today to join the USS Devastator and USS Avenger, but the message from crews is the scenery and people here are great.
Most crew members surveyed Monday are from Texas — a place where snow rarely falls this time of year.
“We just came from Hurricane Ridge — it was awesome,” Mess Management Specialist Gerry Rangel said in the USS Chief’s mess hall.
“We watched the storm front come through.”
