PORT ANGELES — A 24-year-old man remained in jail today, Feb. 21, for investigation of first-degree burglary after allegedly being caught in the act at a Port Angeles residence on the 1200 block of West 17th Street on Friday, police said.
Collin J. Kennedy allegedly entered the residence through an unlocked door and removed items at about 3:30 p.m.
One of the residents confronted Kennedy, who was seen taking the property and tossing the items over a nearby fence, police said.
Kennedy allegedly held a knife up toward the resident in an attempt to keep the resident from following him as he fled westbound into a wooded area of Lincoln Park, police said.
All of the property was recovered.
Kennedy was arrested without incident after a short multi-agency search. Clallam County sheriff’s deputies, Lower Elwha Klallam police, the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team and a K-9 unit from the Sequim Police Department assisted Port Angeles police.
Kennedy was booked into the Clallam County jail at 6:10 p.m.
Formal charges are pending with the Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
