Port Angeles: Red Lion Hotel, others to be purchased by WestCoast Hospitality

The Red Lion Hotel in Port Angeles is a step away from changing ownership again.

WestCoast Hospitality Corp. has signed a letter of intent to purchase the Red Lion hotel chain.

The Spokane-based lodging, entertainment and real estate company is buying 42 Red Lion hotels in 12 states and five DoubleTree hotels from Hilton Hotels Corp., which acquired Red Lion in November 1999 with the purchase of Promus Hotel Corp.

The Red Lion in Port Angeles is the largest hotel on the North Olympic Peninsula.
