PORT ANGELES — A Port Townsend man who confessed to killing a 54-year-old woman as part of a suicide pact has pleaded guilty to a reduced murder charge.
Then he was released from jail.
Jimmie Homer Shreve, 52, who has awaited trial in the Clallam County jail since shooting Elizabeth “Beth” MacNeille in August 2001, was sentenced Monday in Clallam County Superior Court to 16 months — time he has already served.
Judge Ken Williams imposed Shreve’s sentence at the recommendation of Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Dick Suryan, who on Monday reduced Shreve’s charge from first-degree murder to second-degree murder for the intentional death of MacNeille.
A second-degree murder charge can warrant a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
