The salary range for the Port of Port Angeles’ next executive director will be between $90,000 and $115,000 annually, Port commissioners decided Monday during a meeting in Port Angeles.
They also decided the new director must have at least a bachelor’s degree, but work experience can take the place of a master’s degree.
The vote was 2-1, with Commissioner Leonard Beil voting “no” on both issues.
With the salary range and educational requirements firmed, the executive director recruitment process can begin.
Recruiting is expected to last until May 14, but the process might be extended another week since the salary range discussion was delayed, said Ed Rogan, senior consultant from Waldron & Co. of Seattle, which is conducting the search.
An executive session is scheduled May 24 for the commissioners to evaluate semifinalists and complete plans for finalist interviews.
Rogan recommended the salary range of $90,000 to $115,000. He said it was between the lowest and highest comparable port salaries, according to his research.
