The Port Angeles Police Department has presented 10 volunteers with awards recognizing their hours of service.
Combined, the volunteers donated 5,067 hours of service to the police department in 2009.
They received gold, silver and bronze pins during the presentation of the 2009 Presidential Service Awards at a ceremony at the Port Angeles Fire Station last week.
The gold pin recipients, and the hours they donated, are:
• Russ Fish, 1,003.
• James Walsh, 715.
• Betty Banick, 634.5.
• Allen Banick, 611.
• Marilyn Walsh, 567.
Charles DeVoney received a silver pin for serving 488 hours.
Bronze pin recipients and the hours they donated are:
• Gary Marler, 246.
• Glenn McFall, 116.
• Kristyn Pendergrass, 129 hours.
• Robert Agee, 209.
Both Fish and DeVoney were recognized for exceptional service: Fish, for donating more than 1,000 hours in 2009 and DeVoney for contributing more than 5,000 hours total as a volunteer.
Since 1998, the volunteer service has contributed 40,351 hours, Fish said.
