PORT ANGELES — City police remained on the hunt Thursday for a man they suspect in a recent drive-by shooting and home invasion in Port Angeles.

Ordez Eugene Kompkoff, 20, of Port Angeles has been linked to shots fired on Orcas Avenue near a Chase Street apartment building March 18 and a predawn home invasion on East Ninth Street last Saturday.

Kompkoff also has existing warrants for residential burglary and felon in possession of a firearm.

“We’re still actively pursuing leads and information,” said Brian Smith, Port Angeles deputy police chief.

“We encourage him to surrender himself to law enforcement immediately.”

Considered dangerous

Police have said Kompkoff may have access to firearms and should be considered dangerous.

He is described as African-American, 6-foot-1, 190 pounds with a tattoo on his neck.

Police Sgt. Barb McFall has said Kompkoff has strong ties to Clallam County.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots near Sea View Apartments, 2215 S. Chase St., at about 7:20 a.m. March 18.

Police recovered .40-caliber shell casings near the Orcas Avenue area where a witness reported seeing someone point a handgun toward the apartments from the window of a white four-door passenger car.

No one was injured and no damage was reported in the apparent shooting.

Late last Friday, Kompkoff was recognized as a passenger in a Ford F-150 pickup truck that police said had been pulled over for a traffic violation.

A passenger in the truck, Jonathan Lewis Reid, 19, took the wheel and drove away with Kompkoff in tow.

Chase

After a two-block chase, police sideswiped the truck to stop it from moving. The F-150 ran into a garage on Lauridsen Boulevard east of Race Street, and Reid was arrested in a nearby garage.

Reid was charged Monday with attempting to eluding a pursuing police vehicle and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

He was being held Thursday in the Clallam County jail on $5,000 bail.

After the chase, an East Ninth Street resident told police a man matching Kompkoff’s description knocked on his door, pushed into his house and took possession of his telephone.

Police said the man then left the house and got into a silver truck driven by an unknown person.

Officers could not locate the silver truck, its driver or Kompkoff.

“We hope to have a good resolution on that soon,” Smith said Thursday.

Anyone who sees Kompkoff or has knowledge of his whereabouts is urged to call 9-1-1.
