PORT ANGELES — Platypus Marine Inc. officials pressed Port of Port Angeles authorities Monday to give the company fair treatment and open communications as it expedites a $6 million expansion.
In a letter to Port commissioners presented during a meeting Monday, Platypus president and owner Jud Linnabary said his company has tried for months to develop a partnership with the Port so the yacht repair and manufacturing company can expand.
But the company has met some resistance, the letter said.
Port Executive Director Clyde Boddy said Monday he had not yet reviewed the company’s expansion proposal or suggestions to improve the relationship.
“We intend to work with them on what their concerns are,” he said. “I don’t agree with (Linnabary’s) characterizations on some of the things, but we will work with them.”
But the fact the company sent the letter shows there are issues, Port Commissioner Leonard Beil said.
“If one party feels communication hasn’t been as good as it should be, then obviously there is a problem,” he said Monday evening.
“I think it certainly is appropriate for Platypus to bring the Port up to date on what their expansion plans are,” Beil said.
