PORT ANGELES — Street-side parking may be expanded between City Hall and the Clallam County Courthouse next year.
The City Council on Tuesday gave staff the go-ahead to add to the 2011 preliminary budget 41 angled parking spaces on Fourth Street just east of the courthouse parking lot entrance. The move would add 20 parking spaces since several parallel parking spaces would be replaced.
It would also mean designating that section of the road as one-way only.
The county city governments would share the costs. No estimates were available Tuesday.
County and city staff who spoke at the meeting said the parking lots at the courthouse and City Hall don’t always satisfy demand.
“We regularly have issues with parking,” said Joel Winborn, Clallam County parks and facilities manager.
