EVERETT — The death toll from the March 22 mudslide that hit the town of Oso, now at 39, includes the son-in-law of Pastor Omer Vigoren of Port Angeles.
The body of Ron deQuilletes, 52, a Bothell electrician, was discovered Tuesday night, Vigoren said Wednesday.
DeQuilletes’ wife, La Rae, 51, is a Class of 1980 Port Angeles High School graduate.
The couple have three grown children and a teenage girl.
‘A little closure’
“We are doing quite well, considering,” said Vigoren, pastor of Bethany Pentecostal Church.
“This has been one of those things where we were hoping to hear that they found his body.
“My daughter is doing remarkably well.
“We get a little closure now.”
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office announced two more victims Wednesday and said it is trying to identify three bodies.
The Sheriff’s Office lists seven people as missing from the landslide that buried dozens of homes in the community about 55 miles northeast of Seattle.
Recovery efforts
Recovery workers with dogs are probing the debris, and the state Transportation Department is making plans to clear a milelong stretch of state Highway 530 that is covered with mud and trees up to 25 feet deep.
The death toll also includes three relatives of Quilcene-area resident Tamara Lenzen: her brother, Thom Satterlee, 65; his wife, Marcy Satterlee, 61; and their granddaughter and Lenzen’s grandniece, Delaney Webb, 19, of Marysville.
Webb’s fiance, Alan Bejvl, 21, of Darrington, also is among the dead.
