Taylor Ann Rixon was born last Dec. 11 at Olympic Memorial Hospital to George and Kristin Rixon.
Shortly after her birth, Taylor was diagnosed with heart problems.
She was airlifted to Seattle and spent the first two weeks of her life in the intensive care unit at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center.
Now the Rixons must travel to San Francisco this month for life-saving heart surgery for their daughter, said Holly Rixon, the baby’s aunt.
Strait View Credit Union has set up a donation fund to help pay the family’s expenses and businesses in Port Angeles and Sequim also have set up donation bins, Rixon said.
Taylor suffers from a congenital heart disorder known as Tetralogy of Fallot and a heart murmur caused by a hole in her heart.
Tetralogy of Fallot is a condition in which blood that should go to the lungs to pick up oxygen goes instead through an opening in a wall of the heart, returning to the body without oxygen.
