PORT ANGELES — Olympic Medical Center is one step closer to parting ways with Olympic Care and Rehabiltation Center, a Sequim nursing home the center purchased six years ago.
Medical center board commissioners Wednesday night agreed not to act on the six-month “opt-out” clause contained in a management contract signed last spring with Avemere Health Services, an Oregon-based firm which operates nursing homes and assisted care communities in Washington and Oregon.
Avemere representatives attending Wednesday’s work session said they were pleased with the arrangement and had no desire to back out of the deal.
The contract allows for medical center and Avemere to negotiate a sale of the facility when the contract ends in mid-2004.
