The first of two new 87-foot Coast Guard cutters to be stationed in Port Angeles will arrive Tuesday.
Originally the cutter Adelie was scheduled to arrive Monday, but may have been delayed by weather as it traveled from New Orleans through the Panama Canal, a Coast Guard spokesman said.
The Adelie, the 33rd vessel in the Marine Protector class, is the same type of cutter as the Osprey stationed in Port Townsend.
A similar ship is scheduled to arrive in Port Angeles next year. At that time the 110-foot Cuttyhunk, now stationed in Port Angeles, will be transferred to Astoria, Ore.
