PORT ANGELES — An exhibit celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Clallam County Historical Society will open at the Museum at the Carnegie on Wednesday.
Hundreds of artifacts, many on display for the first time, have been selected by Pat Gallup, exhibits coordinator.
Among them are a television set from the 1950s, a Radioptican post card projector and many works of art created by county artists.
“We’ve covered the walls in the downstairs gallery with artwork from 18 county artists,” said Kathy Monds, executive director.
“It’s an exciting array of pastels, oils, charcoal drawings, watercolors, prints and includes one monoprint,” she said.
Another section displays signs from businesses and organizations.
It’s a visit to the past to see signs from Rosemary Inn, Harringtons, Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co. and the Woman’s Literary Club.
In addition, several display cases are filled with items that will jog the memories of many visitors.
Artists whose works are being exhibited are Minerva Troy, Esther Webster, Lindy Meek, Ed Hauff, V. Earlene Harrison, Mabel Fangen, Ardean Robinson, Roxanne Kriner, Eva Willan, Lee Korbel, Eric Smedley, Sybil Morgan, V. Allison, Dona Cloud, Roberta Kastner, John Pogany, Joy McCarter and Henry Kruger.
The Museum at the Carnegie, located at Second and Lincoln streets in Port Angeles, is open Wednesday through Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
