Port Angeles: Mountain Dew donates cash, skateboards for PA skatepark

PORT ANGELES — Mountain Dew, through its local distributor, Peninsula Bottling, has stepped forward with a $5,000 contribution for construction of a skateboarding park in Port Angeles.

The soft-drink company is also donating high-quality Powell skateboards and Clive skateboard-carrying backpacks which will be raffled to raise money for the skate park.

The boards and backpacks will be raffled early next month at four locations in Port Angeles — Swain”s, both Safeway supermarkets and the Mount Pleasant IGS food store.

A raffle ticket will be $1.

Nor’wester Rotary Club is spearheading the drive to build the Port Angeles Skate Park in the northeast corner of Erickson Playfield, Fourth and Race Streets, directly across from the Dream Playground.

The need for a skate park has been enthusiastically endorsed by youth leaders, the city and Port Angeles School Board.
