PORT ANGELES — Police say a local man could face federal charges after he allegedly was caught with a gun during security screening at Fairchild International Airport, then buried the weapon outside the terminal.
The 77-year-old Port Angeles man, who police identified as Donald Craig, was not cited by police but could be charged by federal authorities for a weapons violation.
The incident happened at 10:30 a.m. Saturday when Craig arrived at Fairchild to board a Horizon Air flight to Seattle for a connection to San Diego, police Sgt. Erick Zappey said Tuesday.
Craig was carrying a .22-caliber Derringer pistol in his coat pocket, for which he has a valid concealed weapons permit, Zappey said.
