PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man has been charged with multiple felony counts after the theft of two cars at least 30 miles apart.
Joshua Michael Wilson, 31, pleaded not guilty Friday to two counts each of possessing a stolen motor vehicle and possession of stolen property, and one count each of theft of a motor vehicle, second-degree identity theft and third-degree theft.
Wilson, who remained Tuesday in the Clallam County jail on $20,000 bond, is set to appear in Clallam County Superior Court on Sept. 27 for a case status hearing.
A preliminary trial date has been set for Oct. 21.
The charges stem from the theft of a minivan and a car, both of which were found Aug. 26.
Clallam County Sheriff’s Office investigators believe the car, a 1992 red Honda sedan, was driven to a minivan near Graysmarsh Farm in Sequim and abandoned.
The minivan was driven to the Walmart Supercenter at 2411 Kolonels Way, Port Angeles, where Wilson was arrested.
Wilson was seen at the Walmart next to the minivan with a second man who successfully ran on foot from the sheriff’s deputy who arrested Wilson, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Detective Sgt. John Keegan said last week investigators were seeking to identify the second man, whom Keegan called a “person of interest.”
