PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man has pleaded not guilty to stabbing another man along the Waterfront Trail just north of the Red Lion Hotel and is next set to appear in Clallam County Superior Court on Aug. 16.
Edward Paul Horner, 55, pleaded not guilty last Friday to one count of first-degree assault with deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing John Harold Hann in the chest July 23.
Hann was taken to Olympic Medical Center on July 23 and had been treated and released as of last week.
Horner is next set to appear in Clallam County Superior Court on Aug. 16 for a case status hearing, with a preliminary trial set for Sept. 16, according to court documents.
Horner remained in the Clallam County jail Saturday on $30,000 bail.
The stabbing allegedly occurred along the stretch of Waterfront Trail near Hollywood Beach at about 10 p.m., according to police accounts.
After police were called, Hann told Port Angeles police officers he had been sitting with a female friend on Hollywood Beach that night when Horner started harassing her.
Hann told police he told Horner to leave, which reportedly Horner did not do.
This lead to an argument between the two men, and Horner allegedly stabbed Hann in the upper left chest.
