PORT ANGELES — A man who police say was involved in a drive-by shooting and home invasion was still “in the wind” Sunday afternoon, a police spokesperson said.
Ordez Eugene Kompkoff, 20, of Port Angeles has been linked to drive-by shots fired at an apartment building Wednesday on Chase Street and a predawn Saturday home invasion on East Ninth Street.
Kompkoff also has existing warrants for residential burglary and felon in possession of a firearm.
Police said they believe Kompkoff may still be in Clallam County.
“He has strong ties to the area,” said Port Angeles Police Sgt. Barb McFall.
McFall said she believes Kompkoff will be spotted and turned in before too long.
“Everything will come out. It’s only a matter of time,” she said.
On Saturday, police said Kompkoff might have access to at least two firearms and should be considered dangerous.
They described him as African-American, 6-feet, 1-inch tall and 190 pounds with a tattoo on his neck.

At about 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, residents in the Orcas Avenue area reported hearing gunshots near Sea View Apartments, 2215 S. Chase St.
There were no injuries or damage reported in the shootings.
An officer found .40-caliber shell casings near where a witness had reported seeing a person pointing a handgun toward the apartment building from the window of a white four-door passenger car.
Police identified Kompkoff as a person of interest in the reported drive-by shooting.
Late Friday, a police officer pulled over a Ford F-150 pickup truck and recognized a passenger in the truck as Kompkoff.
After the truck driver got out of the truck, another passenger, Jonathan Lewis Reid, 19, slid into the driver’s seat and attempted to drive the vehicle away, police reported.
After a two-block chase, the pursuing officer performed a sideswipe maneuver to stop the pickup truck.
The F-150 ran into a garage on Lauridsen Boulevard east of Race Street, destroying the truck and damaging the garage and a vehicle parked inside.
Reid was tracked to another garage and taken into custody.
He remained in the Clallam County jail Sunday without bond for investigation of eluding police and motor vehicle theft.
After the pursuit, a resident on East Ninth Street told police a man matching Kompkoff’s description knocked on his door, pushed into his house and commandeered his telephone.
Police said the man then left the house and got into a silver truck driven by an unknown person, and the Ninth Street resident called police.
Officers could not locate the silver truck, its driver or Kompkoff.
