PORT ANGELES — Joseph Daniel Henry, 31, of Port Angeles, was identified by authorities this morning as the man whom witnesses told police jumped to his death Wednesday afternoon from the Eighth Street bridge over the Tumwater Truck Route.
Port Angeles Deputy Police Chief Jason Viada said Henry has next of kin who live near Sequim.
Further details on Henry were unavailable this morning.
“We have no evidence at this time to suggest it was anything other than a suicide,” Viada said.
Viada said he did not know if drugs or alcohol were a factor in Henry’s death.
Authorities have said four people leaped to their deaths from the Tumwater Creek bridge and the nearby Valley Creek bridge about three blocks east in 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2015, and now two in 2017.
Paul Gerald Sutherland, 49, of Port Angeles, leapt from the Tumwater Truck Route at about 4 p.m. June 8, authorities said.
