SEQUIM — A 41-year-old Port Angeles man died Thursday after falling from a tree he was topping north of Sequim, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said.
Lyle Lyster of West Coast Tree Service was cutting a branch off a tree on Peterson Street in the Dungeness area when he fell an estimated 51 feet at about 10:45 a.m., Chief Criminal Deputy Brian King said.
Lyster was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The branch came down and knocked him from the tree and he fell to his death,” King said.
“It was witnessed by others at the scene.”
The sheriff’s office and Clallam County Fire District No. 3 responded to the call.
The state Department of Labor and Industries is investigating, King said.
