PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man has been cited for reckless driving after hitting four vehicles and telling police his van had defective brakes and steering, police said.
James D. Ohlson, 39, ran through a red light while traveling westbound on Front Street at about 6:15 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Lincoln and Front streets, hitting a vehicle travelling southbound on Lincoln before damaging three cars that were parked along Front Street near The Gateway transit center, Port Angeles Police Officer Clay Rife said Monday.
Ohlson hit the rear quarterpanel of the car traveling southbound on Lincoln before hitting one parked car in the 100 block of Front Street, then smashed into the second parked car, which rammed into the third parked vehicle, Rife said.
Rife said there were no injuries and that a monetary total of damages was not yet available.
Rife said Ohlson admitted in a statement that accompanied the collision report that he ran the red light, that he was driving too fast and that he was knowingly operating a vehicle that had defective brakes and steering.
