PORT ANGELES — A 75-year-old Port Angeles man who failed to stop for traffic at a red light caused a three-vehicle, chain-reaction wreck on U.S. Highway 101 east of Port Angeles this week, the State Patrol said.
Tim R. McDonald was ticketed for following too close after the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving rammed into a 2000 Subaru Forester driven by Donna M. Ford, 57, of Port Angeles on Wednesday, according to a State Patrol memo.
The impact pushed the Subaru into a 2000 Ford F350 driven by Walter V. Apple, 64, of Port Angeles. The pickup truck also was waiting for a light in the westbound lanes near the Port Angeles Walmart.
Treated and released
McDonald, Ford, Apple and two passengers in the pickup — Audrey L. Long, 78, of Sequim and Joeseph M. Russell, 61, of Port Angeles — were treated by paramedics from Clallam County Fire District No. 2 and released at the scene, the State Patrol said.
All vehicles except the Subaru were driven from the scene.
Westbound traffic was partially blocked after the wreck, which was reported at 3:54 p.m.
Ford, Apple and Apple’s passengers were wearing their seat belts. McDonald was not wearing a seat belt, according to the State Patrol.
Drugs or alcohol was not believed to have been a factor in the wreck.
