PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man was charged Tuesday with one count of first-degree rape of a child.
Brian Wayne McBride, 31, will be arraigned at 9 a.m. Friday in Clallam County Superior Court.
Port Angeles police alleged that McBride raped the girl over the course of several years.
The alleged crimes occurred on the east coast and in the Sequim area before the girl was 12, police said in the affidavit for probable cause.
McBride was released from the Clallam County jail on his personal recognizance after his initial court appearance Friday.
He was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim or any other child.
Port Angeles Police Officer Erik Smith interviewed the girl Feb. 2 and McBride on Thursday.
McBride initially denied that he had raped the girl but later confessed to and described three sexual acts, two of which occurred in Clallam County, Smith wrote in the arrest narrative.
McBride’s accounts matched information provided by the girl, police said.
